Membership and Donations

Bitcoin Policy New Zealand (BPNZ) offers annual membership to individuals and organisations who want to support thoughtful, constructive Bitcoin policy in New Zealand.

Membership

• Individual — $50 NZD/year
• Corporate — $1,000 NZD/year

Each member has one vote on BPNZ matters, including committee appointments and items raised at the AGM. Corporate members nominate one person to vote on their behalf. Membership runs 12 months from the date of payment; if paid in bitcoin, it's confirmed once payment is received and processed.

Pay with Bitcoin or Fiat (NZD)

Membership and donations are paid in bitcoin by default. NZD (fiat) options are also presented at checkout.

Donations

You're also welcome to support our work with a donation. BPNZ is not a registered charity, so donations aren't tax-deductible and don't include membership or voting rights unless you also sign up as a member.

Privacy & compliance

We aim to keep things simple. We can accept anonymous donations up to NZD $1,500 (or bitcoin equivalent) per year; larger amounts may require basic details (name, ID) to meet NZ legal and banking requirements. Occasionally we may need to request more information, decline or return a payment, or share information if required by law and only where necessary, and always fairly.

Bitcoin payments

Bitcoin payments are final and may change in value over time. We record them at their NZD value when received, and where required (for example, by law) may return an equivalent amount via a separate transaction, handled case by case.
